A Magical Website Builder Crafted for Etsy
Pattern is a website builder that empowers Etsy sellers to express their brand.
A common concern of Etsy sellers is that the Etsy brand overshadows their own. This drives sellers to outside platforms where they have more control over the look and feel of their shop.
The solution to this problem is Pattern, a product that generates a standalone, customizable website pre-populated with a seller’s Etsy shop content—in literally a matter of clicks.
A brand new product offering, I lead the design of Pattern bringing it through its first launch and beyond.
Instant Website
Pattern instantly generates a website using information and assets that have already uploaded to your Etsy shop. I identified the shop elements that could be repurposed and, from those, crafted a diverse set of templates users could select between.
Seamless Onboarding
In early iterations of Pattern, a seller’s website was generated with a single click. The experience was too fast and users found it disorienting. Allowing the user to name their shop and select a template beforehand greatly increased the number of trials.
Playful UX
A common theme from research was how intimidated users are of building a website. I wanted to give Pattern the “Fisher Price” treatment, keeping the interface simple and playful at every turn.

With each passing sprint, Pattern matured into a legitimate competitor. Subsequent to launch, I designed experiences for blogging, integrating with third-party marketing services, and buying and connecting domains.
